Nicola brings over 15 years of experience working within the humanitarian and development sector as a MEAL expert. Between 2017 to present, Nicola has coordinated, overseen or led over 50 MEAL services as Head of MEAL services at ActionAgainst Hunger UK and, since 2022, as an independent consultant. Nicola has primarily led evaluations across thematic areas such as food security and livelihoods, food systems, social protection, cash-based programme, financial inclusion, and climate change resilience for a range of organizations like UNHCR, UNICEF, WFP, ECHO, FCDO, USAID, Save the Children, OFXAM and other agencies. He led on the delivery of evaluation services across various projects by combining theory-based methods (like Outcome Harvesting) with quantitative approaches and led on setting MEAL standards at the organizational level for various agencies like Action Against Huger, CARE International UK, UNCDF in Rwanda, MicroSave in India, and the Italian Development Cooperation in Tanzania. In all these roles, Nicola has also facilitated a wide range of trainings on various theory-based methods, managed/delivered evaluations on large-scale humanitarian interventions (for example in the Sahel and Middle East Regions) and led on various internal assessments and learning products.
